2008 Street Stock Rules
ELIGIBILITY
· Any General Motors, Ford or Chrysler Corporation Nameplate Hard-Top cars only. Example: Chevy Chassis-Engine-Drive Train-Rear End. NO Station Wagons, Limos, Convertibles, Pony Cars (Camaro, Firebird, Mustang, etc) or Compact cars, Front Wheel Drive, 4-Wheel-Drive or All-Wheel Drive vehicles.
CHASSIS
·
Full Stock
Steel Frame with 108” minimum wheelbase. Frame must match year & make of body.
Minimum Height: 4” measured from ground. NO Camaro front clips. Unibody allowed
with a 110” minimum wheelbase. Front and rear unibody frame can be “tied”
together with roll cage only.
· Stock mounts must be used for all suspension, running gear parts and shocks. Shock mounts cannot be relocated. All suspension parts and mounts must be clearly visible and must match make of frame. NO aftermarket suspension parts allowed except shocks and coil springs. Racing coil springs allowed but must be used in stock location.
· Rear Screw Jacks Okay but Spring Pockets Must Be Stock.
· One Magnetic, Steel-Body shock, per wheel. NO aluminum shocks, coil overs, air shocks, re-buildable, or re-valveable shocks.Aftermarket shocks allowed. Speedway reserves the right to prohibit any shock.
· Aftermarket spindles, drop spindles, coil eliminators, rack & pinion steering units, power steering pumps, pulleys, steering system “quickeners” or steering units prohibited. Stock steering only!
· Safely constructed 4-Post roll cage with a minimum of 3 driver-side door bars. NO offset cages allowed. Must have steel plate between door skin and roll cage mounted securely to door bars. Roll cage padding required in driver’s area. Front and rear “hoop” bars are legal. Front hoop bar cannot pass through grille or front of car. Rear hoop bar cannot extend past fuel tank and must connect directly to frame. Roll cage and hoop bar material must be a minimum of 1 1/2” o.d. tubing steel.
· Aluminum drive shafts are prohibited. All drive shafts must be painted white. Drive shaft steel hoop is required.
· Overall Weight: 3,000 pound minimum with driver after any race. Added weight must be securely fastened with a full length of bead weld or one-half-inch grade steel threaded rod. All added weight must be painted white and have car’s number on it.
· Four link only.
BODY
· Stock steel production bodies with steel roof, hood, trunk lid, fenders and quarter-panels. NO aftermarket or “Flat-Sided” bodies. Front and rear of body must be enclosed with stock appearing body parts. Stock appearing aftermarket nose piece and tail piece allowed with Official’s approval. Camaro nose pieces and tail section pieces are prohibited.
· Bodies are not required to match frame. Example: Dodge Intrepid body on Chevy Chassis. Steel stock production bodies only.
· SPOILER: 4” OF CLEAR MATERIAL mounted on rear deck NO wider than trunk lid.
· Minimum body height: 4” measured from ground. Must have front and rear bumpers. NO “Crash-Bar” past bumpers.
· Remove all body moldings, headlight and tail light lenses and all glass (except windshield). Do not break out windows!
· Must have full windshield at all times. Lexan windshields allowed. NO Plexiglass windshields or screens allowed.
· Floor board must remain intact to behind driver’s seat, except when mounting roll cage. Plug all holes in floorboard.
· Must have a steel firewall between driver and fuel tank. Have the stock firewall between driver and engine compartment with all holes plugged.
· Doors must be 22 gauge steel with stock contour welded or bolted shut with 1/4” tolerance at seams.
· Hood must have hood pins. Must run hood at all times. NO holes in hood for air cleaner. Trunk lid cannot be bolted down and must be able to open. Trunk lid can have either hood pins or rubber straps to hold it closed.
· One-inch “Rub-rails” outside body allowed. Must be mounted against body with bolt threads inboard.
· No sharp edges allowed anywhere on body, bumpers or rub-rails.
TRANSMISSIONS, CLUTCHES, GEARS, REAR ENDS
· Stock 3 or 4 speed Standard or Automatic transmission with a stock torque converter. Minimum torque converter size: 11”/ NO Direct-Drives. NO aftermarket or “trick” transmissions allowed. Automatic transmission coolers cannot be located in the driver’s compartment. Must have all forward and reverse gears in working condition.
· Stock flywheels only. NO aftermarket, aluminum, or any corvette-style flywheels allowed.
· Stock clutches only and must be clearly visible for inspection. NO racing clutches or aftermarket pressure plates.
· Stock O.E.M. Rear End (Ford in Ford, GM in GM) must match make and model of frame. No altering of trailing arms, which must be mounted in their stock location. NO Quick Change rear ends allowed.
· Steel bell housing or scatter shield is highly recommended
ENGINE, EXHAUST, CARBURETION, IGNITION
· Engine must be located in stock location. V-8 engines with factory stock cast iron heads, intake and exhaust manifolds.
· NO high rise or bow-tie intakes. NO boat, truck, or tube-type exhaust manifolds allowed. NO cutting or altering of intake or exhaust manifolds. No high-performance parts even if stock O.E.M./NO Ford, GM, Mopar High Performance, aftermarket, or aluminum blocks, heads, or intake manifolds. NO aftermarket, Dart, Torquer, Brezinski or GM angle plug heads. NO roller cams or lifters. Roller tips, roller rockers, and long slot rockers are optional.
· Stock starters or mini starters allowed. Any car pushed to be started will start on tail of race.
· Stock 2-barrel carb only. Holley 4412 carb optional. NO Predator carbs. Chevy must have a Rochester carb, Ford: Motorcraft; Chrysler: Carter carb only. Choke and butterfly assembly may be removed. One-inch (maximum) carb spacer plate (with gaskets).
· Stock-style air cleaner (top & bottom), 3” high and 14” (maximum diameter) must be located under the hood.
· NO “air-boxes” or “Ram-Induction” air systems or any type of aftermarket air filters.
· Exhaust pipes must exit behind driver and measure 2” o.d. (max) for last 18” of each exhaust pipe.
· NO center dumps. NO equalizer pipes.
· Radiators must be located in stock position. Cooling system, or any part of it, may not run through driver’s compartment. The radiator overflow hose must exit onto the windshield.
· Battery must be completely covered and securely fastened. Must be in a sealed box if located in driver’s compartment. NO battery can be located behind rear axle.
· NO engine oil or fuel cooling systems allowed. Anti-freeze coolants prohibited.
·
NO blowers,
turbos, pressurized fuel systems or electric fuel pumps. Steel fuel lines or
braided hose only.
NO rubber fuel lines except at fuel source and fuel pump. NO fuel lines in
driver’s compartment. Racing gasoline or standard pump gas only. NO alcohol or
fuel additives of any kind are allowed.
· Stock point or HEI Ignition system only. NO aftermarket, dual point, or MSD ignition systems allowed.
TIRES, WHEELS, BRAKES
· Tires, Fuel and Parts available at Fort Wayne Oval Track Supply – (260) 744-4982. Tire soaking prohibited. Use of tire compound “enhancers” is prohibited.
· 8” wide (maximum) steel wheels only. NO aluminum or plastic wheels. Right side safety rims required.
· Goodyear G24 Eagles, 2462 and 2663
· NO wheel spacers or wheel adapters allowed.
· One inch or larger lug nuts are mandatory on ALL four wheels.
· Factory stock brake system. Must run brakes on all 4 wheels, which must lock up. Rear disc brakes prohibited.
· Aftermarket brake pedals and/or master cylinders okay. NO cockpit brake adjusters.
SAFETY & MISCELLANEOUS
· Driver’s firesuit, fire-proof gloves, and neck collar, Hutchens device, or HANS device required. Fire-proof shoes, underwear and hood are highly recommended.
· Racing seat required. Racing window net (no string nets), and five point harness required. On-board fire extinguisher in working order is required and must be located within easy reach of the driver.
· Snell SA90, SA95, or SA2000 helmets and neck collars are required. May use Hutchens device or HANS device instead of neck collar. SFI approved full fire suit and gloves of a flame retardant nature required. Fire retardant shoes highly recommended.
· Fuel cell required. Must be mounted between frame rails and secured by at least two solid steel straps, two inches wide around the cell. Fuel cell must be enclosed in a steel container and must be mounted securely behind rear axle. Fuel cell must be located a minimum of four inches ahead of the rear bumper. Minimum ground clearance: 10” (measured from ground to bottom of fuel cell). Fuel cells must have check valves but bladders are highly recommended. Fuel cells limited to a 22-gallon maximum capacity. Pickup cannot be located underneath cell.
· NO side or rear view mirrors, communication radios, or scanners are allowed in or on the race car.
· Front and rear wrecker chain straps located outside of bumpers are required.
· All cars must be numbered on both sides and roof of car. Numbers must be in a contrasting color to the body color and be at least four inches wide and 20 inches high. Roof number must face passenger door.
· Once a car goes to the pits after an official green flag lap has been completed, for any reason, it may not return to the track.
· Restarts will be single file, nose-to-tail. Do not lag back in order to get a running start!
